Reclaiming My Strength Poem by Melissa Patty

Reclaiming My Strength

I'm not the victim you thought I was in your wicked game
For I stand with an empowering heart holding a victorious flame
Thankyou for giving me the biggest lesson my life needed to know
Even though I've had to climb the hardest summit but it's fuelled the fire within me to grow
I am enough in this world and I refuse to be anyone but me
I hold my pride within in knowing I'm finally free!
I'm unleashing the inner lion thats has lay dormant for way too long
For the storms had to break my walls to bulld my rainbow of knowing where I belong
For the energy I create will be the harmony of beautiful sanity
This is the part of my story book where nothing in this universe can stop me, I'm defying gravity!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was in a situation where I was in a toxic workplace with a narcissistic manager. It emotionally took everything out of me and now that I'm out on the other side back to my happy self it's healthy to reflect. Even though this was a bad experience but it truly shaped me above and beyond and writing something like this I wanted to share your not alone in this and if your in this situation you can reclaim what's rightfully yours. Walking away isn't a failure, it's a beautiful strength that takes courage and that is something worth the fight!
