Red Flag Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Red Flag

I've held on as long
As I could.
The biggest sign now
Behind me, fluttering in
The wind.
You've come and sent me
To heights unparalleled.
The best of me, unraveled
& Left behind in celebration.
Dressed in red, no longer put to
The side.
Another holiday come & gone
In the blink of an eye.
I've held on as long as I could,
Hoping at some point, that this
Would never end.
Abandoning the way I feel.
With every sizzle, every crackle.
Obscenities shouted through
The night.
Another holiday whenever I see
Your face.
The most gorgeous feeling.
Tied to a stick & sent flying above,
The best of me unraveled in a spark
& Sent flying everywhere,
Without regard to where the pieces
Fall.
The test of time proven short
& To the point.
The thrill of how you make me feel
Spread for all to see,
No matter how fast I run,
You always seem to catch me.
It's always you
