Rest Away Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Rest Away

I thought of you as the rain began to fall,
Listening to you rest away into the still growing night.
I thought of the pillow where you rest your head, wishing that by some twist of fate that I could suddenly appear and take its place.
Your head laying on my chest.
Exchanging breath as we both sail off into the night, fast asleep.
I thought of your hand, how it lays there while you rest your worries away.
Before I drifted off sleep last night.
I imangined you wrapping your arm around me, smiling one of the biggest smiles I've seen you smile.
Not afraid that our boat would capsize as we sailed away into the night,
As the rain baptized us into a new day.
Soon to gaze upon each other and smile
