Riot! ! Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Riot! !

I've begged & I've pleded,
I've been nice thinking you'd care,
But Still,
You walk past me, you look at me like a piece of shit, like im beneath you,
In your eyes i'm God's mistake,
Why,
Because my skin color doesn't match yours, or,
Because Our situations don't match up, because of an easily changable differental in pay, or meet up to your high standard of excellence,
Do you think I wanna be out here, how could you think that for a second in your smug suit & tie,
that this is how its suppose to be,
I'm far from lazy, in fact I have an high level of education and have the papers to prove to you and you alike, but due to the situations that be,
I can't get work for the constant chains that oppress the hope for a brighter future,
I've begged and pleded,
My stomach has growled to the point where I couldn't sleep many a night, had no idea where my next meal was coming from, while you on the other hand, have no idea what thats like, with your high rises and fancy condos,
Now that I have asked over and over again, you pretend not to hear,
As There was no result, no change in the perfect equation I was force fed in school, the brainwashing of common knowledge to become a drone, a none factor, forever lost in a caste system that was never abolished, saught out, pointed at as an disease, soon to plague your schools, your comminities, frowned upon,
I've begged, I've pleded,
Now comes the glock,
Now comes the mask,
Now the tables have turned,
Now it's you that wants to be heard, your begs, your pleas for another chance, another moment,
While all I asked for was for a second, that could've changed my life,
There shouldn't have to be a price on life
