"Auld Lang Syne", a song often heard ‘round the start of a New Year,
was penned { according to a Google article } by {to some} a poet-dear.
PoemHunter.com celebrates his birthday on its "Main Page" this day, but …
it was NOT JUST at poems and songs that this Romantic poet did "play".
Born to a farming family, he farmed over a period of thirty long years,
and at the same time, I think, managed to bring several lasses to tears;
tears of joy I think, more than tears of woe.He fathered lasses and lads,
some while married, some while not.Childhood death took quite a lot ….
of them.
His health also was not ‘good' …..much of his 37 years of life,
but he enjoyed times of fame, as well as his times of strife.
So, here's to thee, Robert Burns.THOUGH once a Tax Collector,
he's beloved by some as a significant Scottish Heritage protector!
Happy Birthday, sir!

Burns knew life and human nature. A terrific monument to this old (auld, auld lang syne) tax collector, Bri.
