Rosa sat so Martin would be able
to march; both helped Obama run.
The centerpiece you see upon the table
is always what impresses everyone.
Deserving of more admiration are
the people who’ve prepared the table and
have made the room attractive. From afar
the centerpiece may not understand,
and do not hope that anyone can make
it fly––the goal expected from Obama.
The steps that we saw Rose and Martin take
were alpha, beta, leading just to gamma.
Someone said on NPR two days after the election of Obama: Rosa (Parks) sat so Martin (Luther King) could march so Obama could run. And Obama ran so our children can fly.
