29. What Haste Yields
I sent Ambika to his chambers,
"Pray for a wise and strong son".
But she could not stand the sight
Of the sage, closed her eyes tight.
She never dared to open the eyes
During the coitus, scared as she was,
If not, she'd have closed her nose too.
To our utter dismay, her son was born blind.
Ambalika almost lost her senses
Scared to near death, she froze
As she entered his chambers
Her son was born weak and pale.
I had no choice, but to try again
Ambika could not gather herself
Even think of going to him once more
So sent her hand-maid instead.
She took it as a privilege and honor
To receive the great saint
And bear him a son; to her was born
A son, with intelligent, noble features.
The horror n shock of birthing a blind n weak child and the joy of birthing a healthy child both conveyed here artfully. Nice, easy flow of narration makes it v readable n reader can connect with the content deeply.
Hi Nosheen This part of the story is carried exactly as in the epic. Great that you liked it. Thank you...

Hi Susan, As have stated below, this is what the epic says. Whether this could be true, is a matter to be reasearched into. The secrets of conception, may be women know better. So Susan, may be you can tell us more about it. Thank you for coming this far in this series. And a bowed head for those trillion tens....
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
A healthy Child was born as a result of honor and respect where as hatred resulted in weak and pale. Well penned.
Yes Rini. This is what the epic says. I do not know whether it happens that way. What the Medics would say about it? Whether any research has gone into this aspect...
