Sea Again. Poem by Tom Allport

Sea Again.

Rating: 5.0

I must go down to sea again
Sunken yachtsmen, drunken Scotsmen
Every lunatic and his friend
I mustn't go down to sea again
The lovely sea and sky
With a grey dawn breaking
I must go down to sea again
It's drowning men, emotions flag
Me down again
I mustn't go down to sea again
The white sails shaking
The call of the running tide
I must go down to the sea again
The Promenade, the rain whips
I'd send a card if I had a pen
I mustn't go down to sea again
The flung spray, the seagulls crying
The wind like a whetted knife
I must go down to sea again
The bingo bar, the clumsy kiss
That ends in tears.

The many faces of the sea. Sometimes it is the crowd that lures us to be near the sea. A wonderful and thought provoking poem.
