Seeking Approval Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Seeking Approval

Call me names.
Other than the one I am given.
Disrespect my ethnic heritage.
In attempts to discredit,
The countless contributions...
My ancestors have made,
To the comfort of your greed.
And obvious selfishness.

Feast upon stolen resources.
You have taken from me to call your own.
Continue to perceive your superiority.
And if that was true,
As you want this kept believed.
Why is it you wish,
Me to be convinced of it.
When it is you and not me,
Seeking approval and acceptance.

Shouldn't you feel secure and validated?
Shouldn't you feel,
This unnecessary...
To enforce your belief.
Until for you this is felt to be true.
And to whose expense,
Will ultimately pay for your ignorance?

That power I lack and you as well,
To judge souls.
Could never afford the cost...
Of destroying what God creates.
What will it take,
For you to acknowledge and recognized that?
A one way ticket to hell?
