She Was Raped Poem by Randy McClave

She Was Raped

Being a female was her crime
She was at the wrong place at the right time,
That stereotype she had not escaped
She was raped.

It is always the woman's fault
Why else was Lot's wife turned into salt,
Young boys fly around with their cape
While young girls learn about rape.

The way that most women dress is a sin
She was advertising herself to all men,
From these thoughts and beliefs an action was shaped
She was then raped.

She never wanted to be harassed and hurt
She was a sister and a daughter and not a flirt,
To pain and dehumanization she was agape
She only read about rape.

Against attack a woman has a natural fence
Spoke the politician in a rapist's defense,
Her hands were tied and her mouth was taped
She was raped.

She was a human being just like you and me
She loved the forests and life and the sea,
Over her body leaves was her covering drape
She died because of rape.
