Should you eat crisps in your sandwich?
If you do
Then what flavour?
You could try tasty chicken
British bacon
Prawn cocktail
Salt and vinegar
Barbecue beef
Cheddar cheese
Cheese and onion
Or ready salted
Or even pickled onion,

There are many options
To your lunchtime sandwich
You could butter your bread
You could mayonnaise your bread
You could fill your bread
With slices of ham and cheese
Your bountiful brown bread
No matter what people you knew
In the past carelessly said

You could even use ketchup
Or that old marmite
And it is either
Love or hate
Some to marmite
That simply never relate
Marmite to them being
A factor of hate

And children
Throughout school
Put crisps in their predictable sandwiches
A trend throughout generations
A trend every adult remembers
Their childhood in the playground
Most memories happy

For parents usually
Teach values and skills
In every walk of life
So on a fun sunny day
Crisps are put in my work sandwich

Nostalgia colouring my adult world
Being carefree and happy
With the old tradition
Of being young and fun
And putting crisps in a lunchtime sandwich.
