The mirror was my life’s bane...
I saw only reflections of loss, and
missed opportunities.
I looked to the stars for comfort only to
find not one of them shone for me.
All I saw was the dark spaces between.
Through the darkness I felt my
anguish growing, my despair deepening...
Question... if by miracle, water can flow from rocks,
why can’t my heart find peace?
... the dark spaces between...
I was prepared to extinguish my
final light when a friend I’d dismissed
in times past, forgivingly re-entered my life.
My friend quickly observed, “It is so like you to keep
all this pain to yourself... are you that self-centered?
Come, allow me to taste your tears.”
An unexpected journey begins with the help
from a shining star. Now just like the rocks,
my heart flows.
