Sick Man Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Sick Man

Rating: 5.0

Sick man

I shall die
But try
Singing songs for freedom and liberty
That shall be supreme sacrifice for the country

"Sick man of the Europe" as an Ottoman empire was called
Entire Europe was divided
It should be sent out of Europe
But the idea always flopped

Many people tried but failed
They were captured and jailed
People suffered and lost lives
The independence remained distant dreams

Many people might have been killed
Or might have pushed into gallows
But then it has become past
Many doubts have been cast

Turkey still remained power of attraction
As it was supported for all oppressive actions
Turkey remained half in Europe and half in Asia
All moves for democracy and liberty remained non plea
