Silhouettes In The Moonlight Poem by David Harris

Silhouettes In The Moonlight

I sit here and watch
the ghostly figures
as they walk along the beach.
They leave no marks
where they tread
these lovers long passed
searching for what they lost
in yesterdays gone by.

They are silhouettes in the moonlight
on their forever quest
to find what they lost
so long, long ago;
always hoping when they find it
their spirits can finally rest.
He was a seaman lost at sea
and she was his bride to be.

Now they walk along the waters edge
hoping their spirits might meet
ending their walk for eternity.
One day the tide might turn
and under the moonlight, they will meet.
Until that day comes along
alone you’ll see them walk
always missing the comfort
of each other’s arms.
