In neatly lined up pots in a row
Flaming red balsams in clusters grow
A visual treat to adoring eyes
A haunt frequented by the bees
Do not need much care, but will fade
If not allowed a little shade
Flimsy they are of delicate stems
With light green leaves of serrated hems
Planted in my neatly laid up yard
They invariably make me glad
Gleaming in the first rays of the sun
With their simple beauty, my heart they won
When the flowers wither, pods appear
In time, for self dissemination, they prepare
When fully ripe, the pods explode
And seeds fly as birdies from nest to explore!
Thus Nature's ways are so amazing
Even in plants is an inherent training
For seeds to leave the comfort of their pods
And find their own space fighting all odds!
Dear Prof Valsa George, The poem 'My Garden Balsams' is interesting, the last stanza tells the nature' way, closing with the remark For seeds to leave the comfort of their pods And find their own space fighting all odds! - Wonderful.
You have made the simple balsam so pretty with your lovely write, Thanks Valsa.
Thank you so much for the great interest you show for all my poems, Loke!
Planted in my neatly laid up yard They invariably make me glad It is the care of the gardener that brings beauty to blossom. Loved the beautiful rhyming poem that I can sing. Thank you.
Beautiful poem about your garden and the desire to grow and develop into a fully realized plant (or human) . Great poem Valsa....especially on a winter's day in MN.
The beauty of the poem and the picture make the reader's soul float. Excellent poem, Valsa.

A lovely poem dear madam! I enjoyed all the lines so beautifully expressed! ! The last two stanzas are gladsome, elegantly embellished with meticulous description of nature’s bounty to mankind. The fascinating lines of third stanza is sheer marvel…….“Planted in my neatly laid up yard/They invariably make me glad/Gleaming in the first rays of the sun/With their simple beauty, my heart they won”. I believe, the lucidity of expression will arrest the attention of common readers! Regards
Thank you Dr. Dillip for your beautiful and equally analytical comment!
Oh, thank you Savita! The way their seeds break is so fascinating to watch!
