Slip Slop Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Slip Slop

Rating: 5.0

Growing up on a Minnesota dairy farm
In the 50's and 60's,
This is a ditty my mother used to sing,
Which all of us children enjoyed.

Titled: Slip Slop - A title,
As good as any.

I love the garbage man's daughter, slip slop,
Who lives down by the swill,
So sweet is the smell of the garbage, slip slop,
But sweeter her breath is still.

Each night we stroll through the garbage, slip slop,
Her slimy hand in mind,
Her greasy head on my baggedy chest,
Oh, that is love divine

In the 50's and 60's, the Slip Slop song had deeply impacted mind in Minnesota as it had grown with the memory of growing there. Mother's singing had deeply motivated you and a short but simple song had given values to life. Mother's care and affection everything was reflected in that song. Toady that memory sings again and it revives its own qualities and mother comes in memory. Divine love gives us peace. An outstanding tribute poem is well penned...10

Great memories, Hank! Maybe you could have your sister Kathy record it and attach it to the poem!

Creative and amusing sing along song that Mom seemed to have many of. Mom was the happy heart of our family of nine. I don't know if this has ever been published either. In those boring times of work, and more work, Mom would have us all singing silly songs that we all loved to sing. Better than having as boring time. Lifted our spirits and what a good sense of humor we all have to this day.
