Smiley's Fortune. Poem by Jeff Taylor

Smiley's Fortune.

Rating: 5.0

Today, a man named Smiley bought me a lottery ticket and said,
'If you win anything, don't forget me! '
And he bought a lottery ticket for the older woman standing next to him
and said the same thing.
He was in and out,
there and gone,
but one thing I hold onto is the thought,
'Why Smiley? Why this belligerent compassion? '
'What compels you? '
He said, 'Don't tell no one, I've worked hard to get this reputation.'
I won't tell a soul Smiley, but know this,
If I win the Jackpot, then I won't forget to smile.
