Sods Law Poem by Jennifer Birchall

Sods Law

Rating: 5.0

There you lay
Minute by minute, hour every hour
Clock watching
Fighting with your mind to allow dreams
Nightmares would be better even
You don't care if milk is needed at 1.22
Or if the computer at work will do updates at 4.23
Dreams of dancing computers sound good right now
Even bottles of milk chasing you with knives
Anything, just something, need sleep
Toss and turn, go the toilet, drink water
Checking you've still got time for at least an hour
Then half an hour before the alarm is due
Eyes as heavy rocks
Your mind slowly drifting
You fight with all your strength to stay awake

This is a good poem about being overstimulated and all the habits one has to go through despite being consumed by one's mind.
