Solitude 2

Poem by Jez Burl

Below my window pane,
I gaze at the old branches
of a cherry blossom tree
where the birds
used to perch;
The tree..
Now devoid of blooms
still holds the twigs
that used to be
buds and blooms.

I open my window
And feel
the tepid breeze;
I sigh a whisper
"You may not find me,
but I hope this poem
finds you".
