Somedays! Poem by Eric Cockrell

Somedays!

Rating: 0.5

somedays i still feel
like i can fly!
like plowing the earth,
and planting the seeds...
painting my face and dancing
for rain...

like running half-naked
down through the woods
with a spear in hand...
searching for meat.

like building a fire,
and watching the meat
turn on the spit...

like playing music
in a dim-lit bar,
amid the smoke and
the sweat and the booze...

like climbing a mountain
to face the dawn,
the only man alive
in the whole damned world!

like making love all night long,
long and slow and tender,
touching and feeling,
giving and taking...

like praying in an empty church!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Great flow from one described activity to the next...I can follow along with you on a psychological journey that resembles a rite of passage. The final line brings the traveller into a state of reflection and meditation after the wildness that came before.
