Drifting between sleep and wakefulness
Amid remembrance and forgetfulness_____the place
Where I still can remember my dreams, that's where
I find you holding my hand, in the haze of existence
Between angst and assurance, I hold you
Tight to my bosom, my heart swings like a pendulum
Betwixt losing and holding, something is slipping
Like sand through fingers yet held firm
Things I love rest in the heart yet stay apart
A star blink in the twilight, fears and aspirations
Attuned, a melody in low and high notes form the music
Of life being played by both major and minor keys
The wonderful innocence of letting love appear and the hopes inside that it will last. The reference to the tonality of music at the end is magically allegoric. Also your choice of images is worth reading a second time and it shows depth in your imagintivity. I also wanted you to invite to read my newer poems. My month of February was kind to me. Warm greetings, Paul
Good News, the Jasmine flower is blossoming again, I feel the aroma here at Karachi..................10
Thank you for your kind words. I have been away from the forum for a long time for certain reasons though I've been writing and posting on a Facebook poetry page. In fact, I had problems in sighing in PH because of forgetting the password.
Life is a pendulum swinging from wakefulness to sleep, from angst to joy, light to darkness, fears to hope. None can steady its course, What we can do is to hold on to hands that give us a sense of security and assurance. Enjoyed this beautiful poem. Keep writing Yasmeen!
My pic of the whole poem is 2nd stanza. Your lines literally took hold of me. Between angst and assurance...yes.... oh yes......10/10!
