Song: War And Love Poem by Dave SmithWhite

Song: War And Love

War and love. Like an old photograph.
You are the orb and I am the staff.
War and love. It's all that I have;
At least here, there lies meaning, a narrative, and draft.

War and love.Am I having a laugh?
Is this not sophistry; am I too clever by half!
War and love. What wizardry and craft,
What twisted mystery explains the history of daft?

War and love. Have you had enough?
Or should I surrender and stop playing tough?
War and love.For at our core, we are buff;
Both rugged defenders of truth over fluff.

War and love. You sure like it rough.
What will I prove; have I got the right stuff?
War and love. When push comes to shove,
If I ain't got the moves, will you just call my bluff?

War and love. Don't go off in a huff!
You have so much to lose playing billy-goat gruff.
War and love. So it goes, hand in glove;
And I'll have no excuses if I'm not up to snuff.

War and love. It implodes in a puff.
When it's halfway between staying and going it's guff.
War and love. Like our loose skin cast off:
The coat of self worth we so carelessly slough.

War and love. Of the gore and the dove.
These are the choices that pull you up by the scruff.
War and love. It's all off the cuff:
Risking all in the gamble of advance and rebuff.
