Spite - Poem by Gordon Jerome

With mangled wings drawn close
Sheltering a shattered heart
Tears of fire from deep within now flow
Anger from deception overtakes my thoughts
Smothering feelings I am forbidden to show
I gather my pride hidden away in shame
For sanitys sake buried deep out of sight
And lay it once more upon a lovers flame
Challenging destiny yet again out of spite.
'closing thought'
Love is an illness that every heart must endure
The return of that love seems to be the only cure
