Spreading Faster Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Spreading Faster

Spreading faster,
Than the latest rumors to hear.
Is truth and its reality.
Shaking to awaken the many,
Left in a state of denial.
No longer staying to embrace,
An alternate outlook.
Hoping the truth,
They will find erased.
Gone and chased away.
Forever from their delusional minds.

Spreading faster,
Than gossip heard to whisper.
And relied upon to hear,
From ear to ear and done for years.
Truth and proof of its evidence,
Made absolutely clear not to ignore...
Has come to knock on doors everywhere.
Leaving those who even lie to themselves,
Sitting to cry their eyes to tears.
Knowing the truth to be as it is,
Appears to visit.
Prolonging a reality to accept it.

"I am not prepared or ready for this."

Many will say.
As their fictionalized lives to live,
From them suddenly drifts away.
Expecting truth to offer sympathy.
Or empathy to identify.

But truth is truth and that is it!
And when it comes,
The doing is done.
Regardless who attempts,
Tears to weep or excuses to keep.
Believing kept delusions,
Will come to their rescue.
To provide them comfort and relief.
