Strength Within Poem by Barry Middleton

Strength Within

Rating: 4.5

as love may come and go like spring
like luck or fortune's furtive grace
so every heart must guard itself
and thus reserve a secret place

and in that secret place the soul
behind a wall where no one goes
must hide itself from pain and fear
and all delusions we suppose

our strength must ever dwell within
and can't depend on someone's hand
to raise us from the world's despair
life rarely goes like we had planned

for we are born and die alone
and in between love comes and goes
and grace is just accepting fate
to welcome both the highs and lows
