Tongs open the oyster,
scissors make a cut
in its soft interior
for pearl culture.
A tiny gravel is thrust
forcibly into the cut.
The innocent never wants it,
only a human hunt.
No choice and freedom
for the poor oyster,
but to endure the extreme pain
from six months to six years.
The guiltless creature
secretes a nacre
to protect itself
from the danger.
The whorl of nacre
is harvested from indoor,
sacrificing the oyster
in every perliculture.
This pearl is one
among the nine gems.
Agony and sacrifice of life
are all it encompasses.
Humans buy and sell
these costly pearls.
A string of it around the neck
is one of our beauty items.
Beauty of pearl is its own,
borrowing it is no beautification.
Ornaments never make angelic,
rectitude in heart is truly aesthetic.
Also a symbol of wealth,
earns name and fame.
Wear it proudly and happily,
how hard hearted
what a shame?
This amazing poem keeps me pondering. Excellent poem, dear Poet!
