Sultan Nizami: Jiine Kī Tamannā Hai Na Marne Kī Tamannā In Hindi/Urdu Translation Poem by Ravi Kopra

Sultan Nizami: Jiine Kī Tamannā Hai Na Marne Kī Tamannā In Hindi/Urdu Translation

To be or not to be is not my desire
to go by where you live is my desire

To hope we will be friends again is like
the drowning ship's sailing on water desire

Suddenly you drop the veil and come before me
why? unfulfilled remains the poor mirror's desire

Each evening makes the sun to drown in the sea
to pass with ease each night is its desire

'Sultan', you will be kicked out of heaven once again
if looking in the mirror with pleasure is your desire

an added couplet:

Ravi isn't a musla. He doesn't believe in jannat
to enjoy life as he pleases is his solemn desire

***

jine ki tamanna hai na marne ki tamanna
SULTAN NIZAMI

jiine kī tamannā hai na marne kī tamannā
hai aap ke kūche se guzarne kī tamannā

tajdīd-e-ta.alluq kī ab ummīd hai jaise
Duubī huī kashtī ke ubharne kī tamannā

be-sāḳhta aa jā.iye parde se nikal kar
ā.īne ko rah jaa.e sañvarne kī tamannā

sūraj ko samundar meñ Dubo detī hai har shaam
ārām se ik raat guzarne kī tamannā

jannat se nikalvā.egī 'sultān' tumheñ phir
us shoḳh ke shīshe meñ utarne kī tamannā
