Sweet Meat Poem by Charles M Moore

Sweet Meat

Rating: 5.0

Come and have a look at this
it's such a touch of class
my liver is incredible
my hearts a work of art
you've never seen my meat so lean
my kidneys are a view
my pies would melt the hardest eyes
my chops and pasties too

If you want some chicken legs
then have a look at mine
my eggs come in three sizes
my bacons very fine
my steak would put you in a stew
and make your veggies wince
you can chew on my pork scratchings
or have a pound of mince

My ham would make an actor cry
my beef could start a war
my pork and ham ridicules spam
you couldn't ask for more
so come and set your eyes on me
there's nothing to compare
I am your local butcher
come and try my wares.

A great side of beef, this! The line 'my ham would make an actor cry' has me crying with laughter! Wonderful write throughout, Charlie! Esther : ]

Like Mary, I wasn't sure where you were going with this. But made me smile, and I think a butcher would think this. Patricia

This cracked me up! (I'll admit, I cringed my way through it cause I wasn't sure where you were heading) but, it cracked me up. Great poem charles! Sincerely, Mary
