Sweetened Speeches Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Sweetened Speeches

When will it all cease.
The dieting on sugar coated,
Sweetened speeches.
Delivered from podiums and pulpits.
With a compassionate teaching to preach myths.
Based upon a continuation,
Of aged re-written histories.
Unproven to have ever existed.

When will it all stop to cease.
An ignored truth that sits above,
And under the feet of eyes wide open.
Yet...
Taught to despise facts to deny them.
Regardless if they are,
Discovered but go unexplained.
To those expected to lose curiosity.
As well as a thought process.
Fading to diminish from brains left vacant.
Unused and awaiting to be entertained.

When will it cease.
A supported and endorsed indiffence to enforce.
And divisions to keep,
Bigotry and racism on the increase.
As distorted realities thrive and survive.
By those given permission,
To stand high on the backsides...
Of the ones they oppress and criticize.
Done to do in clear view to accept,
A theft of resources to have stolen.
To claim a discovery of an ownership.
With advanced weapons created.
By technology to update their throwing of rocks.
Now to call them 'rockets'.
And capable to drop bombs just to prove,
A returning back to dwell in caves.
To pay a homage to their ancestors.
With this done to see themselves,
As heros.
Brave.
Possessing skills to destroy.
Although to themselves,
Effectively this they do.
With decaying sweetened speeches.
And lies to deceive,
A reality emerging.
But doing their best to keep disbelieved.
