Systemic Pain Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Systemic Pain

Anyone living these days,
Facing the reality of truth.
And having the consciousness of it,
To accept and refuse...
An intentional misguiding,
That a seducing deceiving produces.
Can not claim they have experienced,
Being subjected to going through...
A systemic pain sustained,
For decades and centuries to remain.
Then told the purpose of this inflicted,
Ultimately leads...
To undeniable,
Fulfillment of joy, happiness...
And an ecstasy to achieve.
As if to arrive in Heaven.
Receiving halos, wings and golden slippers.
Prematurely!

And yet...
As unbelievable as these times,
We live can be.
Those who have been oppressed and abused,
Mentally, physically and done historically.
Can be seen and witnessed on their knees.
Calling themselves Christians.
Participating to self inflict,
Evil misdeeds and wickedness.
In the hope their sins will be forgiven.
For that 'ecstasy' to receive,
Prematurely or not!
With this to believe,
What they've done to achieve...
Will one day be rewarded.
As the sound of trumpets,
Announce their accomplishments...
Throughout the Universe AND beyond!
