Tears Poem by Kim McInnis

Tears

Rating: 5.0

I'm sorry
that I'm not strong enough
to hide my anger
- frustration
- defeat
behind an army of smiles
and unwilling giggles
I'm sorry
that I'm not strong enough
to hide my sadness
- disappointment
- contempt
behind a mass of laughter
and empty grins
and I'm sorry
my eyes are doors that never close
but if sensitivity is such
a weakness
then I'd rather be weak
than be a stone-faced sculpture
who never cries
but never really smiles
