Terrifying Truth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Terrifying Truth

The saddest thing most,
Will come to face these days.
Is a truth they had been entitled,
To ignore.
And from it to walk away.
But this to do to delude it done.
Has many suffering.
Unable to overcome,
The overwhelming presence of reality.

"What's the matter with you,
Calm down.
Take deep breaths.
Who is there threatening you? "

-I can't see it.
But I feel it everywhere.
Please do something.
Help me.-

"Is it making any noise?
How long have you been feeling this...
Whatever it is."

-Well...
I had been shopping at the mall.
And people begun screaming,
'Reality is here! Reality is here! '
I didn't know what to think.
So, I got in my car.
And drove as fast as I could to get home.
It's here. It's HERE!
I can feel it.
How it got inside my home,
Is scaring me to death.
Please help me.
I've got to get rid of it.-

"Uh...uh...
Mmmm. Uh...
Wow.
Wow.
I wish I had more than that to offer.
I can donate a...'gee whiz'.
And, that's about it."
