Thank Sister Thanh And Tan, Vi For Your Visit Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

Two months of Autumn have passed
Sister Thanh came to visit us with Tan, Vi.
They traveled several hours in the rain
Their Northbound travel was long, but their hearts already came.
We spent two weeks in waiting for their visit.
To welcome guests, misty rain twisted in the air.
We were very happy to greet each other
We talked, we laughed, sometimes we burst into laughter.
We watched a music program into late hours of the night.
We went to bed, then next morning we ate and chatted again.
For two days, we ate shrimp noodle soup, beef noodle Phở
Pork roll with purple mint, sour Vietnamese beef bologna
Stirred fried sliced beef, sautéed shrimp lettuce rolls
Fried fish with special fish sauce, and pumpkin shrimp soup.
Guests brought steamed blue crabs, crayfish and clams
Along with sweet baked desert and their loving hearts.
We were eager to serve our guests with best dishes
But these couldn't compare with their loving hearts.

CÁM ƠN CHỊ THANH CÙNG VỚI TÂN VI THĂM NHÀ

Qua rồi hai tháng mùa Thu
Chị Thanh cùng với Tân, Vi thăm nhà.
Mấy giờ gió lạnh mưa bay
Xe lăn hướng Bắc, đường xa, lòng gần.
Chúng em đợi đã hai tuần
Mừng ngày khách tới, gío lay mưa phùn.
Gặp nhau tay bắt, mặt mừng
Chị em đoàn tụ nói cười ròn tang
Vui ăn, coi hát tới khuya
Thế rồi đi ngủ, sáng ăn, truyện trò.
Bún riêu, phở tái thịt bò
Thịt heo gói lá, thịt bò nem chua.
Bò xào, tôm cuốn rau xanh
Cá chiên chan mắm, cơm canh thỏa lòng.
Khách mang đồ biển cua sò
Thêm vào bánh ngọt, tấm lòng yêu thương.
Hai ngày, đãi khách ăn ngon
Nhưng mà khó sánh tấm lòng khách thăm.
