Thank You - Poem by Brandon Doore
*To the parents of the girl I love*
Thank you for yelling at her,
She learned to appreciate a quiet voice.
Thank you for ignoring her,
She learned how to listen.
Thank you for being ignorant,
She learned to be understanding.
Thank you for being close-minded,
She learned to keep hers open.
Thank you for being controlling,
She learned to appreciate another’s will.
Thank you for leading her straight to me,
For that is a debt I can never repay.
