# # The Actress/Waitress (Tanka) Poem by Sonya Florentino

# # The Actress/Waitress (Tanka)

Rating: 4.8

THE ACTRESS / WAITRESS (original version)

She will take any role

To become someone else

for a few days… a few weeks…

a few months…

Or if she’s lucky

The length of time it takes

to shoot an ambitious movie

THE ACTRESS / WAITRESS (Tanka version)

She lives for her roles

Forgets herself for a day

a week…a month…or

With some luck, the time it takes

to make a movie, perhaps?

Now that you have written a successful Tanka, I will look for others that you have written.

Acting is such a passion for so many, and like most of the arts, sometimes difficult to find work. I particularly like the Tanka version for its intuition and empathy. 10 Karin

Very touching and expressive, Sonya. Especially the line, 'She will take any role to become someone else'. Your insight is 20/20. I prefer the original version. Love, SandraX

You reminded me of a saying which i heard a long back....acting is too close to meditation.....(whenever i'm sick of myself, i want to be someone else, immaterial is the time period...)
