Last month at my bird feeder I saw
A robin, a finch, and a macaw,
And a black and white cat
Was watching from the garden.
Last week at my bird feeder I observed
Juncos, sparrows, and many other birds,
And a little brown cat
Was watching from the garden.
Yesterday there was a scarlet tanager,
A blue jay, and a cardinal so red,
And a calico cat
Was lurking near the shed.
I went to fill it up today,
And this is what I found:
A pile of fluffy feathers
Just lying on the ground,
And not a single cat
Was anywhere around.
I have come to one conclusion:
As far as I can tell,
Not only do I feed the birds,
I feed the cats as well.
I wondered if there was a way of killing those blasted soundtracks and those dreadful automated readings! Great poem Kim and I've learnt a bit of Portuguese too. So very educational. I think my cats are too stupid or too well-fed to catch birds. But I do eye that Sparrowhawk suspiciously.

congratulations on your poetry award. Tom's cat talk was welcome news. The cats are with him still then
