A bird hide fashioned in willow
With a high wooden bench to sit on
A long discreet viewing slit
A moorhen appears, then it's gone
A wagtail flies by the hide
Then rests awhile on a rail
Just a few feet from me
Restlessly bobbing it's tail
Nice choice of words and imagery. Your title captured me and I clicked to read this poem. The arrangement of your words flows so nicely and I can see what you're describing here. Beautiful and soothing.
Thanks so much Pamela, so glad that you can share the memory with me and that you enjoyed it so much! The willow bird hide was a work of art totally blending in with the surrounding area by a small lake, I wished I could have stayed in it longer! !
