The Blues For Summer (After Louise Gluck) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Blues For Summer (After Louise Gluck)

Rating: 4.8

With a voice of cigarette smoke
The poetess sings the verses that
Dance through my headphones
As I watch the trees sway outside my window
I can only think of was my birthday;
It would be here in a month's time
How the summertime goes fast
But time waits for no one as the saying goes
I sit here and let time go by
As I am too slow to care

Great poem Leeann that ticks all the poetry boxes and I most admire your closing line that puts the poetry icing on your poetry cake, such a great choice of words and beautifully expressed. I notice the name of Louise Gluck the American poet and essayist, perhaps your poetry inspiration. 10+ and I wish you well and take care.

Summer is always so short, and it seems the days loose their youth. A lively stream of conscious work, it has been a blue summer.
