The Christmas Story Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Christmas Story

Rating: 5.0

As the star shone above the stable
The magi were guided to the babe in the manger
Through the sands of desert, they bear gifts
Of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
They had vision of a New King
A vision set in the stars
When they saw Him, they knelt and worshipped Him
And then, the shepherds came
Mother Mary smiled as she cherished the stories
They told of angels
They brought their sheep for the Christ Child
For it was the only thing they had
As the little drummer boy played for Him
The infant slept sweetly
As He continued to sleep peacefully
His parents watched carefully throughout the night
For they were warned, in a dream, to flee to Egypt
From Herod's wrath of death
And so, that is the beginning of the story of Christ
Let Him continue to be born again every year
In our hearts, this special time of the year
