The colours of the nations of Canada and America

The colours of the nation of Canada and America
Are reflected in the landscape that we view
With tinted glasses or with the naked eye or with the racist eye
And the moral fabric of the two nations are woven in this ideology;

It is "a world of magnets and miracles"
Racial injustice preys on the conscience,
To assuage one's guilt at the history of slavery and racism,
We had PM Justin Trudeau apologising to those wounded in the course
Of injustice in life in Canada;

The magnet is how we are drawn to those whom life has treated harshly
It is as if George Floyd had to be brutally murdered by a racist cop
Before the miracle of the path of peaceful protests
Intermingled with the wrongful rioting outsiders
Brought to the forefront the racist bigotry
Existent in the fabric of the two nations of America and Canada;

"The grass is greener
The light is brighter"
The tainted past of America but also Canada
Was built on a racist foundation;

However, history has, to a large extent, changed
The course of the moral ground that we stand on,
Black people and visible minorities have a voice
Not always heard but it rings true
With the strength of their oppressed past;

Magnets and miracles - it is a world of magnets and miracles
If the grass is always greener on the horizon
The light is always brighter on our side
For it is the path of justice
That has to be followed in the case of the murdered black man, George Floyd;

"Justice is conscience not a personal conscience but the conscience of the whole of humanity"
