(the) Dark House Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

(the) Dark House

Once bright.
Illuminating.
And welcoming.
With the whitest of light.
Inviting promise.
Joy and hope.
Filled to feel,
Idealistic dreams to wish.
Idealistic dreams wanted,
Known.
As if to guarantee,
Each to come true.
Now...
The light begins to dim.
Now...
New caretakers have settled in.
Welcoming division, conflict and deceit.
And once bright,
Filled with joy, hope.
Inviting illuminating light of promise.
The dark house it has become.
Infested with invested,
Creators of greed, self importance.
And diseasing mentalities!
Sickened by a wickedness.
Deepening into a bottomless abyss,
Of thriving delusions surviving on denial!
