The Devil From The Cubicle Next Door Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Devil From The Cubicle Next Door

His voice filled the endless void of where bad dreams come from
His tight smirk
His $200 dollar suit from which he could've gotten for cheaper else where
At this point I realised how much I hated this man
How he comes in this office each day and brags about his tight fitting tie
Or poorly sized slacks that made the most irritating sound as he walked by
Days like this I wished the worst
That a building would collapse and he'd be crushed inside the rubble
Or that the airline would simply just throw him from the plane in mid flight
Just the sound of his voice irked me
Maybe it was me
Maybe I generally just had an hate for the guy
Deep down he knew this as well
He'd find reasons to come to my area
Inconspicuously asking about my day
The simple things that drove me insane
Teasing me to grab him by the tie and choke him until his face turned blue
It was this and this alone why I kept my keyboard unplugged from my computer
An endless dramatization of bashing his head til all the keys were scattered against the floor
A community service done for the criminally insane
Just the sound of hearing his lips smack from the first sip of coffee in the morning was enough
No longer could I keep the fake smile that somewhat provoked him to go on and on about nothing
No more could I utter the awkward hey and long silences as his mouth simply would not stop
If he could be anybody else he'd be the guy who stands too close behind you at the gas station
Breathing on your neck as the attendant takes too long to count your cash
This and this alone drove me to the point where I pictured taking turns with different cigerettes just burning the crap out of him as he sat there duct taped
Helpless
Just as he's left me through each and every meeting
Each and every conversation that made me dumber with each word that came from his lips with that ridiculous laugh
Silently i sat there as his life flashed so rapidly in front of my eyes
uttering to myself
So this is what hell is like
