The Empty Canvas Poem by Kesav Venkat Easwaran

The Empty Canvas

Rating: 5.0

Using a portion of a letter only
He started his work on the portrait...

He noticed hiccups in the midst
It wasn't the brush didn't cooperate
Nor was the palette overflown

He could listen to the letter
Speak in a subdued tone
'I do not look like that'!

'I haven't finished my work'
He replied

'But that wouldn't be me'!

The letter retorted, got rough, left

He noticed the brush and his palette
Also, leave along

That day, for the first time in his life,
He realized the emptiness of his large canvas...

Lovely figures of speech. Here we do not brook rebellion. We send an army of brushes to crush the " i"
