You taught me
To be patient
To give you time
And to give myself
Some moments of peace
And truthful rest.

You taught me
About people
And how they function:
Their joys
And their sorrows
And their humanness.

But most of all
You taught me
About me:
How I function
How I have
Not only sorrows,
But many joys.
