The Factory Poem by Ima Ryma

The owners of the factory
Announced that it is shutting down.
Here for over a century,
Main employer in our town.
A thousand workers unemployed,
Having to look to government
For some help to fill the big void.
So many hopes and dreams were spent
By workers working night and day
At the factory to provide
The good life, now gone away.
It's like someone real close has died.

The factory will soon be gone.
Our town will have to go on.
