As I watch the others play
I stay inside, not coming out
For I am not in any mood to celebrate
I am still mourning our love
Though, people tell me to come
And join this party
I can't bring myself to do anything--but sulk
I continue to watch the others
Until the robins starting to appear
I watch them intently wondering if I shall sing to them
The Leonard Cohen song like I did with you
It's time to unwrap the gifts
Left over from the joy of Christmas
I have been told
Can't continue to sit here
As my family is urging me out
And join the fun
I wipe my tears and take a deep breath
Hoping to get out of the funk
Until the robins 'starting' to appear. I hope you mean 'start' insead of starting.
This a great poem with a perfect illustration of a haunted past. Hope the speaker heals from the slump.
" I am not in any mood to celebrate"….2024 is a year that nobody wants to celebrate…
It's sad that suicide increases this time of the year. Depression longs for the things we once had, or once knew. You captured that struggle perfectly in this poem, LeeAnn. I wish you a Merry Christmas. May Santa bring a little joy to those who seem to lack a bit.
So sadly but completely and well expressed, the poem perfectly conceives the pain and loneliness felt. Extraordinary projection!

I would like to translate this poem
This is an excellent piece..... thank u... LeeAnn...
