The Homeless Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

The Homeless

Rating: 4.2

There are so many homeless
Lying on the pavements,
Under the flyovers and bridges,
Inside shanties and under trees;

Rain lashes them and drives them
Away to take shelters in railway
Platforms or sheds in bus stations;

Winter makes them shiver,
Some take relief from biting
Cold sitting by the fire;
Some scurried under trucks and
Heavy vehicles parked at road sides.

Summer sips away blood from
Their bodies as they work in heat;
They sleep in open on the empty
Verandahs of the shops in the night;

There should be shelter homes
In and every towns and cities for
The homeless to sleep in peace.

By the way, I didn't vote your poem a 1. The Poem Hunter system did it. It would not let me pass one, and then, suddenly, it happened. Just wanted to let you know.

Poet Panda, this hearfelt poem makes me shiver with anger towards bureaucrats who are STOPPING people who truly want to help alleviate this problem. Very well written!
