The Lock-Down Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

The Lock-Down

Rating: 5.0

The sun seems down with lethargy
I thought so in deep sleep
For it's still in the west
And I am in the east
Dreaming at noon
A full moon
And stars are away in their homes
Looking like a pale florescence
Of flowers shining
But through the light of the brighter moon
And the tide, endless tides of sea
Plashing in and out of my home,
Swimming over me
And drifting me up and down
As if to splash and churn her
With an oar to row her safe home
And I end up being in waste waters of an isle
Though not far from my home
And there are no friends, no games and no food
Only palm trees that tower around are swaying
And the mystic wind that goes by
Does murmur in melody
And sands are plenty and beautiful
Yet seem not the floor of mine
And everywhere is water,
Water and water
Panicked I opened my eyes
And I saw bed tea turning cold with summer's sunrise
And pouring out
And the bedcover, one end
Sliding down to floor toward bath room
Another going half way up the hill
And pillowcase removed,
Flapping like a reptile on window sill
And pyjama was nowhere round the waist
Going up and up until on the crown set
And one leg resting on heaven,
Another in hell
And it was well past noon
