The Man And Woman
the man and woman
time forgot
an old couple
they brought
salted baked chicken
and potato salad
to the wake
to comfort the children
but they cried anyway.
they sit together
on their lawn
chairs bought at
the hardware store
they just want to be left
alone to themselves
don't taunt them with stories
of the government coming
to take away their
house, furniture, belongings
They left the old world
because of that
the old man
the old woman
time forgot
