The Old And The New You Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Old And The New You

I love you exactly the way that you are.
Understandably things come and they go.
When the time comes and it's time
For things to go.
I'll remember the parts of you that made
Me smile the most.
The part of you that you'll soon lose touch
With, that's decided to come along with me
And live forever.
We'll sit and we'll talk about old times,
You'll tell me your fears then I'll kiss you
For no other reason except that you are
Yourself.
As for the person that you are becoming
Old things must be cleared in order
For new things to come.
This also is a person I'll come to know
And love.
When the time comes and this version
Of you comes in.
There is nothing to fear.
I'll remember the parts of you that weren't
So easy to love. The parts you're soon
To forget.
You'll tell me about all the changes
You've been through and how proud
You are to no longer be who you were,
Even then, with my lips.
I'll give you a brief reminder
I love you exactly the way you are
